Why Pupper Dups

Not just fresh. Genuinely better.

Real credentials. Real food. Real people. Here's what makes us different.

Missouri Department of Agriculture

Licensed Pet Food Manufacturer

We hold a Missouri Department of Agriculture commercial pet food manufacturer license — something virtually no small or home-based operation can claim. Getting it required independent food testing, label compliance review, and annual fees. We pursued it voluntarily because your dog deserves that level of accountability.

Liberty Mutual Insurance

Insured by Liberty Mutual

Every batch we produce is backed by comprehensive business liability insurance through Liberty Mutual. You can feed our food with complete confidence knowing we stand behind every order with real, professional coverage. This is what separates a serious operation from someone just selling homemade food on the side.

Precise Calorie Science

Your dog's plan is calculated using their exact weight, age, and activity level. No rounding, no guessing — portioned to the ounce, every single meal.

Nutrition From Real Food

Beef, organ meat, wild caught salmon, eggs — every nutrient comes from the ingredients themselves. No synthetic powder added at the end to hit targets.

Your Oakville Neighbors

Better than The Farmer's Dog. Same price.

The Farmer's Dog uses a proprietary synthetic nutrient blend — a powder they add to hit nutritional targets. We don't use powders. Our nutrition comes entirely from real ingredients.

We also don't use chicken, which is a common allergen and digestive irritant for many dogs. And we don't pad calories with cheap starches and rice to cut costs.

Pound for pound, our food delivers more real nutrition — at the same price point.

What's in it

Real ingredients. One recipe. Zero compromises.

We make one recipe — and it covers everything. No menu to navigate, no decisions to make. Because when you get it right, you don't need options.

Pupper Dups Yummy Nums ingredients spread

Beef, Organ Meat & Wild Caught Salmon

Three distinct animal proteins — beef, beef liver, and wild caught salmon — plus eggs, for complete amino acid coverage, broad-spectrum B-vitamins, and natural omega-3s (EPA and DHA). Real protein from real sources. No by-products. No chicken — a common allergen and digestive irritant for many dogs.

Homemade Beef Bone Broth

We source femur bones from Kenrick's Meat Market — a St. Louis institution — and slow cook them for four days to extract collagen, gelatin, and bone-matrix minerals. No store-bought broth. No shortcuts. This is what goes in every batch.

Millet — Not Rice

Most commercial dog food brands use rice as their grain because it's cheap. We use millet — gluten-free, more digestible, and nutritionally superior with meaningful amounts of magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, and B-vitamins. It's a real nutritional contributor, not just a filler.

Fresh Vegetables & Functional Additives

Broccoli, carrots, sweet potatoes (in moderation — excess starch causes yeast issues), peas, spinach, kale, blueberries, extra virgin olive oil, flaxseed meal, and apple cider vinegar. Every vegetable earns its place. Nothing is in here for bulk or filler.

What you will NOT find in our food

Synthetic nutrient blends or vitamin powder — nutrition comes from the food itself
Chicken — a common allergen and digestive irritant for many dogs
Cheap starch or rice fillers used to inflate calorie counts
By-products or filler proteins
Artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors
Rounded or estimated portions — every meal is calculated to the ounce

Cooking chicken and rice at home?

We hear from a lot of dog owners doing this — and we get it, you want to feed your dog something real. But chicken and rice alone is dangerously incomplete nutrition. Dogs fed this long-term are often severely deficient in essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids — even if they seem fine on the outside. You're trying to do right by your dog. Let us bring the science, so you can be sure.

Have a dog with specific sensitivities? Text us at (314) 816-1234. Our food doesn't contribute to the most common issues — yeast, allergies, skin problems — because of what we leave out. We're happy to talk through your dog's specific situation.

73% moisture — because most dogs are chronically dehydrated

Kibble is only 8–12% moisture. Dogs weren't designed to drink their way to hydration — in the wild, they got most of their water from food. Our food is 73% moisture, matching fresh prey composition and supporting kidney function, urinary health, and overall wellbeing. Same moisture level as The Farmer's Dog. Better than any bag of kibble.

How does pickup work?
Pickup is at our home in Oakville — 3259 Yaeger Rd, St. Louis, MO 63129. Most customers pick up every 20 days or so, though we're flexible. We use simple automated text communications to make the process smooth — you'll get a heads up when your order is ready and easy instructions for arrival. We'll bring it right out to you.
What's the first batch deal?
Your very first batch is always 50% off — no conditions. We want you to try it with zero risk. After that, pricing is $6.15 per lb including tax.
Why no chicken?
Chicken is one of the most common food allergens and digestive irritants for dogs. We've had countless customers come to us specifically because their dog didn't tolerate chicken well. By leaving it out entirely, we make our food accessible to a much wider range of dogs — including sensitive ones.
How do I store the food?
Keep extra tubs frozen. Move one tub at a time to the refrigerator to thaw — once thawed it's good for up to 5 days. Each tub is sized so it never requires more than 5.5 days of thawed use, so you're never wasting food or risking freshness.
Do you really match The Farmer's Dog?
Yes — currently with or even just considering The Farmer's Dog? Text us. Enter your dog's info in our form exactly as you would on their site and if our comparable per-day cost is higher, we'll match it. Just reach out directly and we'll work it out — no hoops to jump through.
What does the MO Dept of Agriculture license mean?
It means we are a legally licensed pet food manufacturer in the state of Missouri — not a hobbyist selling food on the side. This license requires meeting commercial standards for production and labeling, passing independent food testing, and paying annual renewal fees. It's a real commitment of time and money that very few small operations make. We did it because we take what we're doing seriously — and because you deserve that level of accountability.
What's the difference between full feeding and a topper?
Full feeding means our food completely replaces whatever your dog currently eats — we precisely calculate their daily calorie needs and portion everything to the ounce so they're getting exactly what they need. A topper means you add our food on top of their current meals. We calculate the right topper amount to ensure their total daily calorie needs are still met when combined with what they're currently eating — assuming their current food is already properly portioned. Many customers start with a topper and switch to full feeding after seeing how their dog responds.
Do you do puppies?
Yes. Puppies have significantly higher calorie needs than adult dogs and eat 3 meals per day. Our calculator accounts for all of this automatically based on your puppy's age range. We also check in with puppy customers regularly to adjust portions as they grow.
Someone referred me — where do I mention that?
There's a referral field right in the signup form — just enter who sent you. We love knowing how new customers find us and we make sure to take care of the people who spread the word.
